Embracing Community: SBF’s Commitment to Making a Difference

Reflecting on Our Volunteer Efforts as April Marks National Volunteer Month

In April, we recognize National Volunteer Month, and at SBF, the value we place on giving back to the community is deeply rooted in our company culture, and we’re eager to continue fostering this commitment going forward. Throughout the year, we actively support various volunteering initiatives, offering time during our workday for our team members to make a meaningful difference.

SBF leaders dedicate time and resources to opportunities for our team to make a genuine impact within the community. Our Community Outreach Committee – a team of folks from all departments at all levels throughout the firm – plays a pivotal role in organizing opportunities and identifying critical needs within our community.

SBF’s annual Day of Impact is a special occasion when our entire firm comes together to do as much work as possible in an entire day at a local organization. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of volunteering at organizations such as CASA Pinellas, Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center, and others. The impact of our collective efforts extends far beyond the day itself, leaving a lasting impression on those we serve and inspiring us to continue making a difference.

We recently volunteered at the Florida Dream Center, where we sent small groups on a weekly basis to organize food boxes. These boxes were then distributed to local homeless shelters or provided at mobile food banks through the Adopt A Block Program.

Additionally, we’ve organized office pet drives to collect essential supplies for local animal shelters such as Pinellas County Animal Shelter and Fluff Animal Rescue. Items such as pet toys, beds, collars, and cat and dog food were collected to support our furry friends in finding their forever homes.

Another volunteer initiative we engage in is the Chi Chi Rodriguez Angel Tree Book Drive. In our office café, we set up a Christmas Tree filled with paper angels that have the names of boys and girls, along with two books they want for Christmas. SBF employees and clients then have the opportunity to donate these books to the children at the Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy. Once the books are collected and organized, members of the Community Outreach Committee and others deliver the books to the Academy.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to seeking out new opportunities for service and continuing our culture of compassion and generosity.
