Our Team is Staying Connected
How playing “social hour” trivia on Zoom is helping us maintain team spirit
Staying connected while working from home can be tough. At Spoor Bunch Franz, we don’t just work well as a team, we genuinely like our teammates, so it’s been especially hard to be separated. This past week, we found a new way to connect — a live trivia party on Zoom!
About 40 SBF staff members jumped on the same Zoom call and split into teams of four. In an in-person trivia game, you’d huddle up with your team and whisper-argue the answers, but on a call, you can’t do that, so we used Zoom’s breakout rooms. “It was a lot of fun on a small scale–with the groups, people could really talk,” said Jessica Espaillat, relationship manager, who organized and hosted the trivia game.
The winning team received gift cards for GrubHub so they can order lunch from their favorite local restaurants.
Espaillat says staff members have asked to repeat the activity every week for as long as the team is working from home. “We scheduled it as a ‘social hour’ at 4:30, but it went until 6 because they were having so much fun,” she said.
We’re committed to keeping our staff connected during this interruption, both to continue serving our clients and to maintain our great relationships, so we are planning more fun online activities for the future, too.
Up next: (Virtual) Spirit Week. We’ve selected a theme for each day of the week, like high school homecoming week, and we look forward to seeing our staff showing their spirit on Zoom calls and in selfies. The themes: favorite sports team, Disney, tie-dye, Christmas jammies, and, of course, SBF spirit.
